Then again, minor inadvertent slipups can truly spoil an otherwise pleasant, fun-filled trip. Here are some tips to help you prepare for a productive, headache-free fishing trip.
Obtain a recreational fishing license
You have to remember that in certain jurisdictions, those who fish sans recreational fishing license are tagged as poachers. If you authorities find out that you are fishing illegally, you may incur punitive fines which are, in most cases, much heftier compared to the cost of a sport fishing license. You can find one-day, annual, and lifetime sport fishing licenses. You have to remember though that apart from the license, inland lakes may require entrance fees.
Prepare your equipment and supplies
Make sure that your fishing rod is in good working order. Remember to check your fishing pole for damages and have them repaired promptly if there are. Your reel should be free from sand and dirt, and properly oiled so your casting will be accurate. Don’t forget to change your old or weathered fishing line as well. Also, place your hooks, weights, swivels, floats, and lures into a tackle box, properly segregated according to type and color. Furthermore, never forget to take a water-resistant camera with you. Nothing can be more heartbreaking than having the largest catch of your life, and realizing that you won’t be able to take a picture of it because you forgot to bring your camera with you. Also, never leave the house without a first aid kit and some sunscreen.
Get the right apparel
Putting on appropriate clothing while on a fishing excursion is a must not only because its keeps you comfortable and protected against the elements, but as with any sporting or outdoor apparel, it can also improve your game, in this case catching fish. Remember that if you are looking around for sport fishing garments, you have to get those with neutral color so as not to startle the fish. It would also be to your convenience to get ones with multiple pockets so you have some of your fishing tackles at hand. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather as well.
In addition, remember to examine waders and sailing boots for nicks, and deep cuts weeks ahead to give you ample time to have them repaired if necessary. See if the internal padding of your sailing boots is intact. Since you won’t be wearing boots all day long, you have to get non-slip sailing shoes. Look around for a pair of sailing shoes that are comfy, not as heavy, and dries off easily.
On your fishing trip, remember to wear a life vest too. Without a vest, you might not be able to swim with all the things you have on you.
A comfortable pair of sailing boots and sailing shoes will help you enjoy your fishing excursion more. Follow this link for additional pointers on how to prepare for your next fishing excursion.
