Using Wrist Weights to Work Out In and Out of The Gym

They can be used outside of the gym instead of dumbbells, but are also quite effective for improving the resistance of your normal dumbbell exercises. It’s a great way to strengthen your wrists and prevent injury if you play a sport like baseball or basketball.
These weights are typically filled with lead or iron powder inside a breathable nylon outer cover. You can also find some that use sand or water and have Velcro straps that tie around your wrists. Certain models will also be adjustable with small metal bars that can increase or decrease the weight.
No matter if you’re exercising your shoulders, triceps, chest or biceps, the movement of the wrist is involved in most of these exercises. Therefore a wrist weight can make any of these exercises more beneficial. Of course, it is important to know your limits and not use too many weights which could cause you to injure yourself.
There are numerous ways to take advantage of the wrist weights benefits in your everyday life. Walking to a friends house or going for a hike in the woods becomes more of a workout with every sway of your arm. Even while at work, you can tone your arms just by using a keyboard or moving around a mouse.
Wrist weights also work quite well with ankle weights. Ankle weights work to improve your leg muscles just like your wrist weights try to improve your arm muscles. Wearing them together may make you feel more balanced.
Both weights can also can conveniently be hidden under clothing, so you can literally wear your wrist and ankle weights any time and no one will be the wiser. Most times you yourself will forget your wearing them. Running errands may be a chore, but it can also become a great exercise.
One final step to make your activities that much more of a workout would be to add a weight vest. Combining all of these different weights together will deliver quite a workout.
