Have you ever seen a mixed martial arts bout? There are plenty of mixed martial arts (MMA) bouts on television, but in some countries, most of them are on Pay-Per-View (PPV). Everyone knows that you have to train to learn how to do something better. This goes for reading, writing, playing chess and martial arts. Especially in combative sports like martial arts, because you can get hurt, if you are not more proficient than your opponent. The most ferocious form of martial art is mixed martial arts.

The sport of mixed martial arts appears to be taking North and South America, Europe and Japan by storm. It is not a new sport by any means; the contemporary round of popularity for mixed martial arts goes back about 20 years.

Mixed martial arts is hugely well-liked now. It is as popular as wrestling was in the Seventies and Eighties. The difference is that everybody knew that wrestling was choreographed, whereas mixed martial arts (some fans call it cage fighting) is not. Mixed martial arts is for real and for very high stakes comparable to those of world championship weighty weight boxing championships.

Georges St-Pierre was born May 19, 1981 in Saint-Isidore, Quebec, to Jim and Louise St-Pierre. St-Pierre had a difficult childhood , tending a school where others would steal his clothing and money. He started learning Kyokushin karate at age seven by his father and later by a Kyokushin Karate Master to help protect himself against a bully at school , Nikolas Mavrikos.

There are many talented fighters in both boxing and Mixed Martial Arts but the truly great fighters are diamonds in the rough. When most people think about the pugilistic sport of boxing there are a few names that all people are familiar with.
