It is daft that smokers are aware of all the health risks involved with smoking (like lung cancer and emphysema), know that there are well over 4,000 chemical compounds present in cigarette smoke (many of which are known carcinogens), and yet they tell themselves, like so many others keep telling themselves, that they like smoking and that you do not want to stop?

If you are a smoker, then the overwhelming odds are that you have tried to give up smoking, even if you never told anyone that you were attempting to give up. The old joke among smokers is that they have given up giving up.

You hear it all over the place, don’t you: “Smoking Causes Cancer”? This health warning is written on every packet of cigarettes these days. However there are millions of people who, although they know it, still smoke. Surely, everybody knows that smoking isn’t healthy. It causes cancer and / or severe cardiac diseases to anyone who smokes continuously.

Quitting an addiction that you’ve had almost all of your life is be very difficult. Many smokers want to quit their unhealthy habit, but hesitate because they think that it’s too late or too hard for them to quit. Fortunately this is not the case. It is never too late to change a bad habit.

Once somebody decides that it’s time he or she stopped smoking, it is best to start sooner rather than later. However, how do you stop smoking, when you have been smoking for a number of years? Smoking is a very difficult addiction to break as tobacco contains the compound called nicotine which is addictive to both the mind and body.
