Attend a taping of a TV show. Several talk shows, award shows, games shows and sitcoms and in front of a studio audience. Search online to find out how to attain tickets to a taping. If you cannot get tickets for the show of your choice, take a tour of the studio the show is taped in.
Attend a sporting event. The region is the of home professional basketball, football and baseball teams. Professional tennis, golf and volleyball tours hold tournaments throughout the year. And several universities offer high-level sports competition. Check online for schedules and ticket information.
Take a trip to a museum. There are several different kinds of museums throughout the region. Some feature fine arts while others display exhibits on science and space exploration, culture and natural history. Museums have more to offer than just exhibits. Look for listings of special events, such as film series, concerts and lectures, held at museums.
There are many things to do at area beaches. For water sports, try surfing, swimming and sailing. Shore activities include volleyball, skating, biking or simply laying in the sand.

Several parks and campgrounds allow both tent and RV camping. Fishing, boating, hiking and biking are examples of outdoor recreation available during most of the year. During the winter months, skiing, tubing and snowboarding are available in the mountains.
