Multi-level marketing seems like something that’s not terribly hard.

All you have to do is get others to check it out and join, then they make some sales and you earn commissions. There’s no such beast as an easy business that does not require work. Multi level marketing (MLM) is one of those business ventures that is a lot more complicated than it seems. There’s no reason why you cannot achieve in MLM, if you have the willingness to work. You may not be able to find a more popular online business to get into.

It may be tempting, but avoid thinking people will be lining up to buy from you just because you distributed some freebie product samples. Free samples are great for endearing you to potential clients but they do not always guarantee a sale. Choose your freebie recipients wisely. Choose the people you think are really pondering your products. Be sure you don’t hand them out very early after meeting them. If you offer it to someone who is hovering over a “yes” but afraid to commit to that “yes” the freebie could help you land the sale. Also, don’t be too generous and give them all out too soon.

Make yourself available to your downline and especially people you sponsor. You cannot expect people to agree to work for you without being available to them. Nobody is going to try to make money for someone who is never around. Of course just the opposite is true, and they’ll want to work hard. This is not hard to do with email, cell phones, texting, etc. Being a better team member and leader of your sponsored people will grow your business much better and faster. There’s no question about being able to make money with MLM, but certain things must be right such as your mental attitude, etc. There’s a mistaken belief held by many that you can make a lot of money very quickly. Sometimes that impression can seem to be true, in some cases. But in reality there are far too many MLM’s that are upfront and legitimate business opportunities.

The best practice with your associates is to be honest with them about everything. Don’t promise them megabucks right out of the gate. Make your expectations clear, tell them you expect them to work hard and treat it as a serious busines if they want to do well. Telling people they can earn unrealistic amounts only sets them up for failure because they will be too easily frustrated and discouraged. It’s doubtful that you want to become a professional recruiter because you’re always filling in the gaps after people quit. Be up front with the people you hire as part of your down line. Just one result will be they’ll appreciate you more and want to work hard for you. If you’re new to business, it all can seem a little bit intimidating. Some people do MLM because they initially thought it was easy money. But as you know, it takes time and a lot of work. Like any other real online business, you can succeed but not without working at it. But you can get the kind of income you were led to believe only if you do the work.
