Guest blogging is a great way to get more exposure for your own blog and as well as to build targeted traffic. Since this is a marketing method, then you would be right if you guessed there must be some fundamental information to know. Until you’ve got a strong foundation built, you won’t see the kind of results that you want. You want to avoid the common mistakes that can hurt your efforts, and so here is an intro to the world of guest blogging.

Let’s talk about boring grammar and spelling errors only because it is still rampant on the net - huge loser mistake. Nobody would take out time to do the proof reading for you, even if the content of your article is great.

Do not try to do anything under-handed because you just may anger the blog owner and kill the deal, altogether. There are so many common sense things to avoid like using PLR or swiped content, etc - just do not do it.

Usually all you are able to do is put your link in the signature for the post. Many new guest bloggers try to do things that they shouldn’t, such as stuffing the article with deep links to the blog, practicing affiliate link cloaking, promoting your partners, using any copyrighted content, rehashing your old content and sending it in, etc.

Work on Another Post: As you write guests posts, try to determine what kind of content your readers are looking for so you can give them more of it. Over time, you should be able to tailor your content to the readers of particular blogs. Whenever you find a blog that responds well to your post, you should plan on sending them additional content in the future. This is called “riding the wave of success” while you can, so that you can actually leverage your previous article’s response better. Once one of your articles has been accepted, you’re no longer an unknown quantity, and in all likelihood, the owner will be grateful if send in more content he can use.

Always try to find those blogs that are on par with your own when looking for guest blogging opportunities. People can be strange yet predictable in the way they interact with others, so just stay positive and keep on moving forward.
