The root in the black cohosh - also known as snakeroot - can be quite useful as a time-honored therapeutic herb. European settlers in America learned about the medicinal properties of black cohosh because of the native Americans. Today, black cohosh is widely used to induce labor in expecting mothers, to deal with acne, to strengthen weak bones, to ease PMS and the signs or symptoms related to menopause. It’s been used to remove warts as well as moles! Another use of black cohosh is as a bug repellant. It is also used for caring for snakebite though there isn’t adequate scientific evidence to prove that it works.
