Cold sores, also known as fever blisters or Herpes labialis, are fluid filled, painful lesions that appear on the lips of an infected person. The herpes simplex virus is the cause. This is a recurring condition which means that although the blisters might be gone after a couple of days, it is most likely to appear again, usually on the same spot. Since cold sores are extremely contagious, you should take preventative measures before, and provide immediate treatment after getting one.
